Event Description
Ireland’s national Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Strategy, ESD to 2030, outlines five priority action areas—Advancing Policy, Transforming Learning Environments, Building the Capacities of Educators, Empowering and Mobilising Youth, and Accelerating Local‑Level Action—that guide ESD practice across the entire education continuum.
This lecture will explore how the Irish higher education sector is adopting a collaborative and holistic approach to integrating ESD through a 6Cs Framework: Curriculum, Campus, Community, Collaborative Research, Culture, and Care. Together, these dimensions support a transformative model of education that embraces complexity and responds to the interconnected challenges of today’s polycrisis.
By placing respect, care, and humility at the core of educational purpose and practice, this approach highlights the collective transformative potential of education in advancing sustainability and social change.
