Maria, a resident physician at the University of Toronto, champions global health with a focus on gender equality. As a McGill University valedictorian, she spotlighted global gender inequalities. Maria advocates for women's rights within the medical field, holding key roles such as the National Resident Representative for the Federation of Medical Women of Canada. Her research explores the impact of gender-based violence on HIV prevention in Nairobi. She's also a vocal advocate for youth empowerment at the United Nations. Maria will represent Canada at the 68th Commission on the Status of Women, aiming to foster sustainable change through collaboration with the SDGs at UofT initiative.
