Ignacio Tiznado-Aitken

Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Planning

Ignacio Tiznado-Aitken is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Planning at the University of Toronto and the Associate Director of the Mobilizing Justice Partnership. He earned his Ph.D. in transportation engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC) and was a visiting researcher at the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds. During 2020-2021, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS).

His research interests encompass a wide range of topics associated with transport and land use dynamics in urban and suburban areas, particularly:

  1. geospatial analytics of transport systems, particularly public transport considering system performance, travel behaviour and user experiences,
  2. transport equity and the distribution of transport-related benefits and burdens across space for different population groups, and
  3. (sustainable transport and urban space allocation policies considering new mobility trends

Thus, his research focuses on advancing knowledge and practices that contribute to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
