Emmanuelle Le Pichon-Vorstman

Associate Professor, Educational Linguistics in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning

Emmanuelle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the University of Toronto on sabbatical until July 2025. Previously, Emmanuelle worked at the Institute of Linguistics at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Her research focuses on plurilingualism in education. Since 2009, Emmanuelle have led several national and international projects on the inclusion of minority students in education. She works as a consultant, researcher, evaluator and reviewer for several international organizations and journals. She has participated in policy analyses, including for the European Commission (NESET II , Sirius,  Erasmus +) and the Migration Policy Institute (Washington DC, May 2015). Emmanuelle's keen interest in migration policy led her to conduct research on issues related to multilingual education, in particular on the education of newly arrived migrant students in Europe and Canada and indigenous students in Suriname (in collaboration with the Rutu Foundation). In 2015, Emmanuelle's research paper was at the centre of a debate on migrant and education issues in the Dutch parliament that ultimately led to a €15 million grant to support primary schools for refugee students in 2016.
