PhD Candidate, Department of Leadership, Higher & Adult Education; OISE

Christos Orfanidis is a PhD candidate in the Department of Leadership, Higher & Adult Education at the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). He studies ethical leadership (development), policy and organizational behaviour, with a focus on higher education institutions. His dissertation explores the complex relationship between ethics and decision-making in the administration of AI-enabled frontline service chatbots at universities. Part of his research program directly addresses the need for effective integration of sustainability in the organizational realities of higher education institutions. In particular, he is interested in exploring how sustainable development goals may conflict with other strategic prioritizations, specifically sustainability vs. AI innovation, and how related sustainable organizational learning and change management can be achieved. His research has been published in leading journals, including Higher Education QuarterlyManagement in Education, and Globalisation, Societies and Education, among other venues.
